Botanicool collection
CAFE DU CYCLISTE

An invitation to discover the flora of Côte d’Azur. The collection features illustrations of some of the characteristic species of Alpes-Maritimes and it’s inspired by the plants that enliven every ride from the base in Nice.

Rooted in History
The illustrations recall both the precision and beauty of nineteenth-century botanical drawings as well as classic floral fashion prints.

Species of the Alpes-Maritimes
Theme one features sweet oranges (Citrus Sinensis) and oleander (Nerium Oleander) flowers, both found on the coastal lowlands, while a second design features stone pines (Pinus Pinea) and chanterelle mushrooms (Cantharellus), as found in the mountains and upland valleys.

The clothing was created in two color variations with dark and light backgrounds.
The details in the illustration, such as the cross-sections of the plants and individual elements like stamens, add the atmosphere of classic botanical illustrations, which were once used instead of photographs to accurately describe plant species.
Both variations also feature sketch details used to create labels on the back pocket of the clothing.

The first theme which includes illustrations of Citrus Sinensis and Nerium Oleander conveys through its rich colors, the scents one might encounter along the paths of the Côte d'Azur.

The second theme introduces us to natural motifs from forest and mountain regions: coniferous trees, seasonal mushrooms, and various small details that can be encountered along the way.

The collection consists of men’s and women’s road cycling jerseys – classic Fleurette style – and Claudine, a relaxed short-sleeved gravel shirt. A casual T-shirt (“Anne”) and a silk scarf round out the offering.

Said Rémi Clermont, Café du Cycliste founder and creative director: “It’s a scientific-inspired theme, but also a ride through a natural library, a living museum – knowing that the preservation of this deep diversity is of increasing importance both to us and future generations.”
